The Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor has been making progress over the last year or so as land acquisition for the project’s core, the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, is nearing completion and nearly $10 Billion in funding has been tied up with foreign financial institutions. The DMIC’s Southern couterpart, the Chennai Bangalore Industrial Corridor, has also been making progress lately with $4 Billion credit line from JICA being announced. Till date, Kerala has not shown any interest in the project but there is a way for land-scarce State to share in the industrial development bounty, by leveraging India’s best port – our very own Vizhinjam project!
