Former Miss India Worldwide Fareisa Joemmanbaks on Saturday visited the Santhigiri Ashram in Thiruvananthapuram and the Lotus Parnasala there.
A press note issued here said she was in Kerala shooting for the Malayalam movie ‘ Annum innumennum’ directed by newcomer Rakesh Nair. During one of the shooting schedules, she chanced upon a picture of the Lotus Parnasala in one of the ads for the on-going Santhigiri Fest and decided to pay a visit.
Fareisa said she was impressed by the serene atmosphere at the ashram, the press note said. Her maternal grandparents had migrated to Surinam.
Shortly after she won the Miss India Worldwide title in 2007, she acted in a Bhojpuri movie. At home, she speaks a mix of Bhojpuri and Dutch, the press note said.
For her present role, she rehearses Malayalam dialogues by transliterating them into English. Compared to the Malayalam film industry, she feels that the Bhojpuri film industry makes up in high standards of professionalism for what it lacks in the creative department.
In her current movie, she plays the arrogant wife of the character portrayed by Siddique. She feels that coconut palms, rice and banana fries are three things in Kerala that makes her feel at home. Surinam has all these; only, banana fry is called bacabana back at home.
Fareisa is at present pursuing an MBA programme at the University of Amsterdam. She has no plans to make it big in tinsel town. She wants to become an entrepreneur, instead, and practise ballet which she had learned as a child, the press note added.
