A state of the art Automated Multi-level Modular Automobile Parking System (AMMAPS), started functioning at the Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram. The structure, situated on a five-cent plot,is able to park more than a hundred cars. It is mobile and can be installed anywhere based on the requirement.
Parking a vehicle in AMMAPS is a simple process. Drive the car into the entry bay and leave. A vertical mechanism raises the automobile and pushes it into the vacant slot and deposits the vehicle there. The automated storage and retrieval of the automobiles within a stipulated time is controlled from a central computer.
The Automated Multi-level Modular Automobile Parking System was completed at a cost of Rs3 crore. Presently it can hold 27 cars at a time and will be upgraded to hold 300 cars within 10 months at a cost of just Rs 5 lakhs.
