It is expected that approximately 35 lakhs of women devotees will be arriving in Thiruvananthapuram to offer Pongala to Attukal Amma.
According to Temple trust secretary M.S Jothish Kumar, its a real challenge for them to give opportunity for all devotees who come to temple to get blessings from Attukal Amma.There is an unprecedented, rapid growth in the number of devotees visiting the temple yearly.
A total of 18 wards have been decleared as festival zone in Thiruvananthapuram. This includes PMG, Pattom, Kulathara, Maruthoorkadavu, Karamana, Pettah, Chacka and Bypass road. Necessary arrangements,including food and drinking water, are being made jointly by various residential associations.
Government of Kerala has alloted Rs 20 crores for the development of Attukal area, of these Rs7.5 crore has already been given to Corporation. Maintenance of the roads were also carried out before the festival begun.
