Kerala Cricket’s young talent Sanju V Samson from Thiruvananthapuram has signed the agreement with Kolkata Knight Riders for the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL). Kolkata Knight Riders acquired this wicket keeper cum batsman at a base price of Rs.10 lakhs. In 2009, he was signed with KKR to join Kolkata Knight Riders academy for two years.According to KKR CEO, Sanju Samson is a good wicket keeper as well as an explosive batsman and is a future prospect for Kolkata Knight Riders. He is the fourth member from Kerala Cricket to join Indian Premier league.
Sanju V Samson who hails from Vizhinjam, Thiruvananthapuram is the proud son of Samson Vishwanath, a retired police officer from Delhi cum football player and Legi Samson who is a housewife. Sanju along with his brother did their schooling upto class 8 at Delhi, Later settled in Thiruvananthapuram four years ago. His cricket talent was further brushed up in Regional Cricket Coaching Centre at Medical College Ground, Thiruvananthapuram. He made his debut in Ranji Trophy last year as the youngest player. He is also the youngest player to get an offer from IPL too.
Sanju played on behalf of Kerala for Under 13,16,17,19,22 teams and was the top scorer at KCA’s Under 13 Interstate tournament where he scored 973 runs. He scored 525 runs in current seasons Under 16 Vijay Merchant trophy and his good form continued in further season and was selected for the Under-19 camp last month. Sanju and his brother Sali who is also a member of Kerala Junior team, both are playing for City Cricketers, a club based in Thiruvananthapuram.
