The work on construction of roads connecting the proposed Vizhinjam Port project area is going on in full swing. The road to the proposed site is staring from Vizhinjam – Poovar road and it directs to the planned main entrance of the port, which is at Mulloor Junction. The main road to the port will be Kovalam – Kaliyikkavila bypass and will be connected by a flyover from Mulloor Junction. The land acquired for this project is for 45m with dividers and pedestrian footpaths. Now construction of a 14m road is going on. Later it will be developed to a 6 lane full fledged 45m width highway. The road will intersect bypass as well as the Vizhinjam – Poovar road and both junctions will have flyovers for easy movement of containers and smooth movement of commuters below that. The road will reach Balaramapuram and will join along with NH 47 (old) and the railways is planning to put their track parallel to the road for some distance which goes to Neyyattinkara.

The drinking water project will kick start soon here and will be completed in an year.The proposed drinking water project is targeting a daily consumption of 3 million litres of drinking water. A total of Rs. 7 crore is allocated for this project.
