Medex 2012 @ Government Medical College Thiruvananthapuram

Six decades ago, a legend was born in a flame ignited by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Today it has climbed to the pinnacle of excellence in the field of medical education. The Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, over these years has gifted the world some of the precious gems in the medical fraternity who have led to path breaking innovations in medical science in the country and abroad. Celebrating the 60th birthday of the College, the Students Union is presenting a grand birthday gift, MEDEX 2012!

All Kerala Medical Exhibition, MEDEX’12 will be held at Government Medical College Thiruvananthapuram  from January 18 to 26. Honorable Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly G Karthikeyan will inaugurate the biggest Medical exhibition in the state. The Students Union and Alumni Staffs  of  the Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram are organising the exhibition MEDEX’12  as part of the institution’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. MEDEX’12 is the biggest Medical exhibition in the state which combines all the clinical and para clinical departments of Government Medical College, Regional Cancer Centre Thiruvananthapuram, Sree Chitra Institute of Medical Science Thiruvananthapuram and Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram with over a hundred stalls. The College was inaugurated by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on November 27, 1951. The last Medical Expo was held 35 years ago to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the college. A total of 34 clinical and para clinical departments of the college are participating in this mega exhibition. Mainly targeted for the younger generation of students to stimulate their interest in medicine and related sciences, facilities for screening of life style related diseses, emerging fevers and education for leading a healthy life style for the benefit of lay pubic are included.

Medical exhibition includes mass blood donation awareness campaign, demonstration of the anatomy of human body with live stuffs, live demonstration of machineries and technologies practiced in medical profession along with seminars, live surgeries, life style disease corners, free screening tests and video presentations.
