Poojappura Central Prison is all set to give with their all new ‘Poojapura Chapatis’ rolled out in the prison’s kitchen. The production of chapatis on commercial basis was launched by actor/director Cheran. The large-scale production of chapatis has been made possible by the introduction of chapati making machine, which was installed at the prison kitchen in April last. It is the efficiency of the machine that prompted the prison authorities to try out this innovative venture. They might have unknowingly drifted into dirt-filled paths in life. But the chapatis they make will be free of that dirt, or any other dirt for that matter, assures the prison authorities, who promises the chapatis to be 100 per cent clean and hygienic since only minimum manual labour goes into the production process. Face masks and gloves will also be provided to the inmates who work in the kitchen to ensure maximum hygiene. The machine generated chapatis will maintain uniformity in size and shape, with each weighing exactly 30 grams. Each chapati will cost Rs.2/-.
