Vizhinjam Port : Technical Issues Solved for the New Railway Line

The first phase of construction of the railway line project connecting Neyyatinkara and Vizhinjam will be launched soon.

The technical issues that were impeding the project were resolved at a high-level technical committee meeting convened by electricity minister Aryadan Muhammad and sports minister K Babu here on Wednesday.

The main hurdle in the project was the clearance of a 220kv dedicated power line for the proposed railway line. The meeting decided to immediately complete the tender formalities for the installation of an electric line from Kattakada substation. It was also decided to finalize the alignment of the railway line without further delay.

Officials of the KSEB, Vizhinjam Port Company and Railway Vikas Nigam Limited, the implementing agency of the project, also participated in the meeting. The ministers asked the officials to initiate the land acquisition procedures for the project immediately.

The above news were sourced from Times of India and Metro Vaartha dated 13.10.2011 & 12.10.2011 respectively.
